0.5.0

Use any AI model, improved stability and new Pro mode

Dyad v0.5.0 lets you use any AI model that exposes an OpenAI-compatible API. It also improves efficiency and stability and introduces a special Saver mode for Pro members.

Highlights

Use any AI model

You can now use any AI provider or model, as long as its API is OpenAI-compatible—which most are.

This works especially well with OpenRouter, which offers many free models. Just create an OpenRouter API key (free), and you can use any of their models by pasting the model ID into Dyad, as shown in the video above.

Optimize chat history for AI context

You can now control how many turns of your current conversation Dyad sends to the AI as context. By default, we send 5 turns (a turn = one round of interaction), which gives the AI enough background without being too slow, expensive, or context-hungry.

But it’s totally up to you! You can choose between 3, 5, 10, or even 100 turns (not recommended—but it’s there if you need it).

Saver mode (Pro)

We quietly launched Dyad Pro last week and are already seeing promising early adoption. To give Pro members more value, we're introducing Saver Mode: it lets you use your free Gemini API quota before tapping into your Dyad Pro AI credits.

Saver Mode is opt-in and helps you stretch your credits, which refill monthly.

Note: Using the free Gemini API allows Google to use your data to improve their models.

Other changes

  • Improved stability – This release fixes the most common crash caused by certain chat messages. Huge thanks to everyone who filed issues on GitHub—your reports helped us track this down.

  • Refactoring – While not user-facing, we’ve done major internal refactoring to make Dyad more maintainable and performant.
